FAQs

briwoolnoughxtheboatshedcafe_august-52.jpg
Why are you closed?

We're taking a little time to look after The Boat Shed - a small but impactful refresh that celebrates the building's history as an old NZ Railways Shipping office. More on that soon.

When will you reopen?

We're aiming for mid-September. Follow @theboatshedcafeqt for the exact date as we get closer.

Where can I get my coffee fix in the meantime?

Head to The Boat Shed Bakery, just a couple of minutes away at shed 1 & 2, Queenstown Marina. Same barista coffee, same warm welcome, even some of the same Boat Shed faces.

Where can I get breakfast or lunch while you’re closed?

The Boat Shed Bakery
Just a 1 minute walk from here at Shed 1 & 2 at the Queenstown Marina. They serve the same breakfast buns as we do (some say even better), please gourmet made-to-order sandwiches and artisan pastries.

Dishery
Located in Arrowtown by the Arrow River, Dishery is our sister cafe serving all day brunch, lunch, Wolf coffee and local wine, beer and cocktails. We share the same Executive Chef, so you know the food is going to be worth the trip.

Canyon Taproom
Craving the beer you know and love from the cafe? It’s made just down the road in Arthurs Point. Canyon Taproom has the full Canyon line-up on tap, plus arguably Queenstown’s best woodfired pizza and share plates. Plus, it’s located right by the Shotover Jet.

Is the menu changing?

Our chefs have been working on an innovative new menu which we’re excited for you to taste. Don’t worry, our famous Chorizo Scramble and French Toast aren’t going anywhere.

Will the team still be there?

Our team aren’t going anywhere, except for a short stint at The Bakery, or somewhere a little sunnier for a well earned break. When we re-open, the same faces will be there to greet you.

What exactly is changing?

Since taking over 7 years ago, the cafe hasn’t had more than a lick of paint or two. We'll be giving the interior a small but impactful refresh, including a kitchen update for our chefs. Our building has been part of the Queenstown story since the 1800s, so while we’re giving the space some love, we’ll also be updating our branding to better reflect its history. Nothing about what makes The Boat Shed feel like The Boat Shed is going anywhere. Our aim is simple: the next time you walk through the door, it feels like coming home.

Can I book a table for when you re-open?

We will open our bookings as soon as we have a confirmed date. Want to be the first to know? Sign-up to our mailing list.

Can I still book for events/groups?

We are taking on event bookings from the end of September. For information, or to book, please email events@boatshedqueenstown.co.nz.
